Model citizen: 82-year-old Nanna Bea stars in our most recent product shoot
When we needed a model to showcase our newest products, there was one, particularly glamourous grandma we really wanted on-board…and she didn’t disappoint!
Beatrice (affectionately known as “Nanna Bea”) swiftly became our most viewed YouTube video back in 2016 when she first stepped in front of the camera to be filmed using her new Neptune Bath Lift. Having clocked up over 7,100 views to date, we were keen to get her back in front of the camera for a more traditional photoshoot and add a bit of stardust to our latest product collection!
“I never thought I’d be a model at 82”
When arriving at our photography studio in Preston, we asked Beatrice how she felt about being asked to model and why she agreed to take part in the photoshoot.
“I’ve never had my photo taken professionally before so when NRS Healthcare asked me to model their new range of products, it shocked me a bit. At first, I was unsure, but then they told me that lots of people on YouTube had found my bath lift video helpful and I thought “why not?”
“To be honest, before I got my bath lift I thought “daily living aids” were for old fuddy-duddy’s, but I’m happy to say NRS Healthcare proved me very wrong on that point. I don’t know what I’d do without my bath lift now! I never thought I’d be a model at 82-years-old, but in my mind, I’m helping other people like me to realise there are modern-looking products out there that can give you back your independence and I think that’s very important.”
Showcasing our new products
As part of the photoshoot, we asked Beatrice to model two of our newest products, which are due to be released later this year – the Duo Walking Trolley and the NRS Freestyle Rollator.
The Duo Walking Trolley is an updated version of the Duo 200 Walking Trolley, a current bestseller, and will be available in two new colours – Turquoise Blue and Pebble Grey. The rear feet have also been upgraded to a harder-wearing material.
What makes the Duo Walking Trolley unique in design is that it can be used as both a walking aid and household trolley in one. This means if you’re living with restricted mobility, the Duo will give you additional support whilst walking and you can use the two trays to transport meals, drinks and household items safely and easily from one room to another.
“One thing I really enjoyed about the photoshoot was that I was given the opportunity to try out the upgraded Duo model and new rollator.
“My hands and arms aren’t very strong these days, but it was really easy to push the Duo across the carpet and I didn’t feel like I was going to fly forwards. In fact, it was surprisingly sturdy and I noticed when I pushed down on the handles, it stopped moving straight away. Luckily I’m still pretty mobile for my age, but I’d imagine it would be good for anyone older who needs to use a walking stick or something to get around.”
The NRS Freestyle Rollator has been designed by our in-house product development team to meet the needs of those who are living with mobility issues such as restricted movement, weakened lower limbs or balance problems.
With a lightweight aluminium frame that locks into place once opened, the Freestyle is not only easy to manoeuvre but also offers strong, reliable support when you’re walking. Additionally, it features a bag which has been designed to sit higher up than on most other rollators to help prevent painful bending and stretching, whilst making it more accessible for carrying shopping and personal items.
“Before I was asked to model the Freestyle rollator, the photographers adjusted the handle height to make it more comfortable for me to use. I thought this was a really handy feature because it means the rollator can suit people of different heights and needs.
“I also had a go at taking out the bag and putting it back in – it turned out to be really easy and I could fold the rollator when the bag was empty too. I tried out the Champagne model, but it also comes in Silver. I think it’s nice that you have a choice of colour for something you’ll be taking out in public.”
We’d like to thank the wonderful Nanna Bea for agreeing to model our new, upcoming products and hope we can work together again in the future!
